As Head of IT & Business Systems, here’s some of the responsibilities:
Managing and enhancing QA HE’s technology business operations and the implementation of new Business Systems, Enhancement Projects and Upgrades. To serve as the interface with assigned business units or functional areas for the purpose of business technology efficiency, development, solution discovery, service management, risk management, and relationship management.
Working across a vast range of stakeholders within QAHE and the wider group, including Executive Team members and the Group Chief Technology Officers to drive commonality and share strategic initiatives with common goals.
Responsible for multi-functional technologies including on-premises Campus tech and Cloud solutions to improve the experience of both staff members, (back office/lecturers/delivery personnel), and front office (learners/students/applicants).
Serving as the business relationship link between the business units and IT at all levels (including executive).
Providing highly valued strategic consulting level support and guidance through key IT initiatives.
Communicating with decisions, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests, projects and initiatives.
Proactively sharing knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to build competitive advantage and improve efficiency and effectiveness of business units.
Partnering with business leadership and other key stakeholders to define opportunities and to identify and prioritise projects based on predefined criteria (such as return on investment, productivity, compliance)

Devising and establishing Business Technology systems to support the implementation of strategies set by the Exec.
Overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals
Purchase functionally efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
Introduction of technology to assist in operational efficiency & the delivery of learning
Engaging with Senior members of other functions within the business to identify and understand technology requirements and solutions.
Engagement with IT Directors and Senior IT members of staff within Partner Institutions, to engage with their roadmap to drive out potential synergies that can be introduced within QAHE to further strengthen partner relations

Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of data and engineering professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Architectural Design: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure data platforms, pipelines, and engineering solutions, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
Technical Oversight: Provide technical leadership and guidance across all data and engineering projects, ensuring best practices in data governance, security, and MLOps.

Experience required:
Experience in business systems, systems analysis and data engineering
Experience in solution design for data initiatives – migration, integration, ETL, data warehouse structures
Cloud Platforms: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with MS Azure and their data services.
Data Technologies: proficiency with a data technologies, including relational and NoSQL databases, data warehousing solutions & ETL/ELT tools.
Agile Methodologies: Experience working with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

About the role:
The QA Insights Team focus on providing key data analysis and insights to our colleagues in QA. You will be a senior member of the team playing a crucial role in driving the company’s growth and development through strategic analysis and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research and analysis to identify business transformation opportunities and develop strategies for improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, build/design a scope, take lead in meetings with stakeholders, test, implement, document, workshop, complete maintenance.
Interpret and visualise data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
Work closely with the wider data engineering team to ensure changes are implemented in line with business requirements.
Leverage the team to deliver fast paced and effective responses to ad hoc analysis requests and queries.
Act as a bridge between the business functions and IT ensuring clarity of requirements for our IT team. Collaborate with IT to develop and improve underlying data.
Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Your Experience
With QAs focus on being winners in the digital revolution, your experience in business transformation and BI tool is needed.
Has worked extensively with BI tools in medium to large enterprise organisation with 5+ Years’ experience in a Data Analytical role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret, and analyze complex data.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence teams at all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to drive change and implement transformation initiatives.
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in business transformation
Experience in an Education / Apprenticeship sector is ideal.
Essential:
Data Analysis Skills
Experience in producing trend/pattern analysis to track data journeys.
Visualisation
Our software of choice is Power BI, but experience in similar software (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Qlik)
DAX
Strong Excel skills
Preferable:
CRM experience (BUD, Maytas, Salesforce)
