Responsibilities:

Are you an experienced academic or programme leader with a background in managing science programmes and supporting international students? We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Senior Lecturer to join our team on a permanent basis, leading on Applied Science, Nursing, and working with our Programme Leader on our SGU Medical Programme.
About the Role:
As Senior Lecturer in Science, you will play a key role in leading, developing, and delivering programmes within our science portfolio, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for international students. You will support the academic management of modules, contribute to teaching, and guide students through their educational journey from foundation through to degree level study.
You will work closely with colleagues to support student success and progression while ensuring programmes are managed in line with academic standards and quality assurance processes. Experience in running programmes in schools, FE colleges, or higher education institutions is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the delivery of Applied Science, Nursing and teach on the SGU Medical programme.
Provide academic leadership to teaching teams.
Develop curriculum content in line with university requirements.
Contribute to teaching and assessment across science-related modules.
Support student progress monitoring, feedback, and reporting processes.
Ensure compliance with academic quality assurance and programme validation requirements.
What You Will Bring:
Proven experience in programme leadership or module management within education (schools, FE colleges, or higher education).

You will be responsible for managing crisis situations and safeguarding students in accordance with statutory guidance and procedures.

Manage a caseload of undergraduate and postgraduate students with mental
health difficulties and/or disabilities, delivering focused therapeutic interventions both in person and remotely, and co-ordinating support across a range of services to optimise their student experience. Establish effective working relationships with external service providers, (GPs, specialist mental health services, social care), to facilitate students’ access appropriate medical support. Promote timely, effective information sharing and collaborative working.
Support in the delivery of all welfare services, this can be on campus, via the phone or email.
Provide urgent triage, assessment and robust, collaborative risk management interventions to students experiencing a mental health crisis, referring to and liaising with internal and external service providers as appropriate.
Provide comprehensive mental health assessments to students presenting with significant mental health needs and provide appropriate advice, signposting and referral on to additional services.
